Working with SZA for the 2026 BET Awards

Award show glam is always exciting, but there’s something extra special about creating body art for an artist whose style feels so effortlessly authentic. For this year’s BET Awards, I had the opportunity to create custom jagua designs for SZA as she prepared for one of the biggest nights of the year.

The design was placed across the tops of her feet and extended onto her toes, creating a delicate, organic look that complemented her overall styling without overpowering it. Every placement decision was intentional, allowing the artwork to peek through naturally with every step.

One of my favorite aspects of this collaboration was drawing inspiration from her stunning hand-painted dress. Rather than treating the jagua as a separate accessory, I designed it to feel like an extension of the garment itself. The flowing details, movement, and artistic energy of the dress informed the patterns on her feet, creating a cohesive look from head to toe.

Jagua offers a unique alternative to traditional accessories. It brings an earthy, artistic quality that photographs beautifully while remaining lightweight and comfortable for long performances and appearances. On red carpets and stages where every detail matters, body art becomes another way to tell the story of a look.

Seeing SZA take the stage at the BET Awards wearing a jagua design I created is an incredible honor. Congratulations to her on an unforgettable performance and on being recognized with another well deserved award. It’s always inspiring to collaborate with artists who embrace creativity in every aspect of their style.

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do. Whether it’s for a bride, a fashion campaign, or one of music’s biggest nights, every design is created specifically for the person wearing it because the most memorable body art is never one size fits all.
