Misbah & Farhan

It was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving of 2019 when I drove 50 miles out to Porter Ranch to do Misbah's bridal mehndi. If anyone knows about LA traffic on the day before Thanksgiving, they would know it took me 3 hours to get there! The drive was so worth it, as I got to know an amazing human being, Misbah! I also got to meet her talented sister Mehaik who deserves her own blog post, entirely!

Misbah wanted nothing customized in her bridal mehndi and gave me free reign to do what I felt. She did specify that she had a thing for florals and grids. Although florals are not my aesthetic when it comes to mehndi, I managed to execute the piece with floral designs that flowed with my style.

As usual, I was videotaping while I worked in order to capture the process on how which the minute details are applied. I use these videos for my content on my social media pages. Since I sell my own hand made henna paste, its important for my customers to get an idea of how my mehndi cones work. I know...... I should probably use a tripod, but a tripod cant get super close the way my iPhone does.

After a full 6 hour mehndi session, this is what Misbah's palm side looked like. In addition to her palms, I adorned the backside of her arms and her feet. Even though her mehndi looks complete at this stage, there is still a full aftercare process that needed to take place in order to really complete the full bridal piece. Misbah slept with her mehndi on over night and followed specific instructions in order to ensure that the her mehndi would reach its optimum color for her wedding day.
